I had been questioning a similar factor.  Reduced amp TIG welding may very well be The solution to only welding the roll marks.  Exactly what is the perpose of copper?    The "C" within the barrel would point out a chrome chamber only barrel. But AFAIK, Colt marked the "C" up near the muzzle on their early barrels, not beneath the handguards. P
